The 2013 iF product design awards have been announced. The winners of these prestigious awards were selected, in 16 categories, by an international jury of prominent product design experts. There were more than 3,000 entries this year. The jury bestowed 50 top awards on products that exhibited outstanding design characteristics. The iF Design Awards Night ceremony was held during Munich Creative Business Week on 22 February 2013 at BMW Welt in Munich. The golden iF sculpture was bestowed by iF director Ralph Wiegmann on RZB’s Alexander Zimmermann and Helmut Heinrich.

The QUADRALED from international luminaire maker RZB Rudolf Zimmermann, Bamberg GmbH and designed by Helmut Heinrich won in the lighting category based on the following criteria: design quality; workmanship, materials; inventiveness; environmental friendliness; functionality; ergonomics; usage visualization; safety; brand value; branding; and universal design.

The jury’s commendation of the QUADRALED reads as follows: “The wall mounted QUADRALED is notable for its clear and elegant form that also gives viewers an impression of RZB’s craftsmanlike skills. The quality of the light produced by this luminaire is simply outstanding. The QUADRALED is a harmonious and extremely successful product that is a joy to behold and a sensational luminaire.”

The QUADRALED won a red dot design award in 2012 and was nominated for a 2013 German Design Award. This crystal luminaire also garnered a 2012 Good Design Award, which is bestowed by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.

The iF product design award 2013 is the 44th prestigious international design award that RZB has won in the past four years.
